Performance at Indexical, Santa Cruz

The Rodrigo Barriga Ensemble will be performing at Indexical, Santa Cruz, on January 28. We will be premiering two new works, Traces by Rodrigo Barriga and Ketchup Packets by Christopher Pierandozzi Everingham.
Traces is a text-based score which explores the collective creation of melodic ideas and seeks to establish conditions for the participants to collectively navigate from one section to another in a context that lacks predetermined musical material.
Ketchup Packets is a series of photographs taken by composer Christopher Pierandozzi Everingham. The images show Ketchup packets stepped on by passersby in different visual configurations, functioning as graphic scores open to interpretation.
Ensemble:
Lydia Barrett - Voice
Balakrishnan Gayathri Raghavan - Voice
Joe Finkel - Alto Saxophone
Chris Everingham - Bassoon
Sean Keenan - Electric Guitar
Rodrigo Barriga - Electric Bass

Residency at Blue Mountain Center

This past August, I was one of thirteen artists and activists in residence at Blue Mountain Center in New York. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, which has significantly impacted me and my work.
Although I had initially determined a project to be completed as part of the program, during the first few days of the residency, my interactions with the space and my fellow residents inspired me to begin something anew in response.
The result was two performance pieces elaborating on my previous work around physical space and a text-based score inspired by the early sculptural work of minimalist artist Richard Serra. I am very excited about this new work and cannot wait to show it to the public ︎.
Many thanks to everyone I shared this experience with for making it so wonderful and unique.
Premiere of Quartet
My last composition, Quartet, was performed on May 20th by the Yarn/Wire ensemble at the Tenri Institute in New York as part of their residency at the Univversity of California Santa Cruz. New compositions by four students of the Composition DMA program at UCSC were premiered as part of this concert, in addition to two works by composers Ben Leeds Carson and Paul Pinto.

Concierto de Bajo Eléctrico desde Casa

As part of my ongoing exploration as performer, I am playing a concert consisting of works by other composers. This one will include graphic, text, and improvisation-based scores to be interpreted on the electric bass.
This is the first of a possible series of concerts, in which I seek to promote works by artists from around the world.
The program for this edition includes composers from Iran, South Korea, United States, and my fellow mexican Wilfrido Terrazas.
As most of us are still remaining at home for the time being, the performance will be broadcast on streaming platform Twitch.
